The Story Behind The Coffee House
When Elizabeth reached out to us at Lavenderie Photos in early January, we knew right away that this session was going to be something special. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and her attention to detail was unparalleled. Every couple that books with us fills out a questionnaire tailored to their photography session, but Elizabeth + Evan took it to a whole new level. Their responses were the most detailed we’ve ever received in Lavenderie Photos history! She painted such a vivid picture of their love story that we could almost see their proposal unfolding before our eyes. From that moment, we knew just how excited she and Evan were to celebrate their engagement and capture their love through our lens.
For their engagement session, Elizabeth and Evan chose a location near and dear to their hearts—Common Cup Coffee House in Morris, MN, the place where they had their very first date. It was the perfect spot to document this milestone in their journey together.
To make the experience even more intimate and relaxed, we scheduled the session on a day when the coffee house was closed. This way, Elizabeth and Evan had the space to themselves, allowing for a cozy and uninterrupted session. Mckenzie, their photographer, wanted to capture not only their connection but also the warm, inviting atmosphere of the coffee shop.
We started with two to-go cups of coffee in hand, letting the natural chemistry between Elizabeth and Evan shine through in each frame. Common Cup is more than just a coffee shop; it’s a place filled with charm and character. The dark walls, rustic wood flooring, and inviting fireplace created a dreamy backdrop for their session. Local artwork adorned the walls, adding a unique and artistic touch to every shot. The full menu of coffee, boba, and delicious treats gave us endless inspiration, helping us craft images that felt as warm and genuine as Elizabeth and Evan’s love story.

The session had an effortless flow, as Elizabeth and Evan were completely at ease in front of the camera. Their natural connection made every pose seamless, allowing us to capture both intentional and spontaneous moments. From detail shots of Elizabeth’s stunning engagement ring to close-ups of their hands intertwined, every image told a story of love, trust, and happiness.
We barely had to direct them—their love spoke for itself. Whether it was soft whispers between shots, playful giggles or kisses, their emotions were beautifully raw and real. The candid shots were some of our favorites, with Elizabeth’s bright smile and Evan’s adoring gaze encapsulating the joy of their engagement.
Elizabeth was so thrilled with how the session turned out that she couldn't wait to do it all over again. In fact, she was already looking forward to their second session just one week after the coffee shop session.
